ALL Z/28s VINs are in sequence. 2014 CTF cars 1-69, Production 1-440. 2015 CTF cars 1-4, Production 1-1288. Total produced 1801.

What information does a VIN hold? We cannot tell the story of the reborn Track focused Z/28 without knowing what the cryptic sequence of numbers and letters holds. You'll notice a few surprises in what is contained, and what is not present in the Z/28 VIN. So, lets break down a 2014 Z/28 VIN. This information is true for Z/28s, including the Captured Test Fleet (CTF) Z/28s.

Position 1: "2" for Canadian Made
Position 2: "G" for General Motors
Position 3: "1" for Chevrolet
Position 4: "F" for F-Body, familiar terminology dating back to the 1st generation
Position 5: "S" for 1SS, Wait, What!?! But its a Z/28! Remember, it began life (body shell) as a base model 1SS before becoming a Z/28
Position 6: "1" Body Type, two door coupe/sedan
Position 7: "E" Restraint code, always "E" for Camaro
Position 8: "E" Engine code, LS7, pure magic, the perfect N/A engine choice for the Z/28
Position 9: "8" Check digit, can be any number 0 to 9, or X.
Position 10: "E" Vehicle Year. "E" for 2014, "F" for 2015
Position 11: "9" Oshawa Ontario Plant
Positions 12 through 17 are sequence numbers (remaining 6 digits)
We have come to know that CTF cars are "699XXX", production cars are "7XXXXX"
